An association between mental health and physical fitness is one of the recent issues that have received much attention. The mind and body are thus synchronized and one comes in support of the other, in what can be referred to as a positive feedback loop.

Stress is the biggest barrier to progress not only in the realm of mental health but physical health as well in every individual. Stress reduction and anxiety also come as a benefit since exercising increases the levels of endorphins normally associated with feelings of happiness and are generally known as ‘feel-good hormones’. Meditation, yoga, and aerobic movements are particularly helpful in restructuring the mind when it comes to mental health in exercising.

However, physical activity is a great way of encouraging mental health improvement on a consistent basis. These chemicals tend to control moods thus when people exercise a lot they produce more of these chemicals. This is why most therapists advise people to undertake exercises as part of managing mental disorders.

To understand the basis of comprehensive health, then it is important to merge mental health with physical health. Some exercises can be designed to incorporate the mind together with the body such as mindful jogging, dance therapy, or a branded fitness class. It can be useful to set achievable targets, meaning well, and focus on successes – big or small.
